Where we stand right now

So, to follow up on earlier posts…

It is financially impossible for us to keep on in this house with this job.  So, while we are going to keep calling periodically the one factory here in Lafayette that has his resume that would pay enough, in the meantime we are job-hunting in or around Somerset.  The easiest thing would be to stay, and we’d get to stay involved at our church and Clay could go to seminary here in 2010 if we stay, and that would all be fine with us.  But God will have to provide another job for that to happen, and the one factory is the only job we know of here that would both pay enough and hire someone with Clay’s experience and education, or lack thereof.  So the only thing we know to do is to look at getting back to Somerset ASAP to be in a position that will help us get out from under this debt so that we can look to the future of seminary and ministry without that burden.  It’s hard enough to ask a church to support a family of six, without needing enough income for debt payments too.  So that’s where we stand.  If you have any job leads, let us know.  If you have any thoughts of us, pray for us.  We’re excited to see what God is going to do.  We know that He can pull something out of His hat unexpectedly.  The last time we made plans to move to Somerset, Clay received a promotion at UPS the Friday before we were supposed to move.  We know He called us here for a reason.  We also know it may be awhile (like when we get to Heaven) before we know what that reason is.  Maybe it’s been fulfilled and we’ll truly end up in Somerset this year, but maybe not and maybe He’ll provide the job we need to stay here and serve a greater purpose.  All we know is to take the steps that it seems He’s given us to take now, and He will accomplish His purpose, whether that means working out all or none of our current Somerset plans.  So that’s us in a nutshell.

The story uv Moly

Abigail wrote and illustrated a story all on her own the other day. She just woke up and said, “Mom, I need a notebook to write a story.” I tried to scan her cover page, which had the title above on it, and her illustration, but they wouldn’t scan in on my scanner. So here’s the story as she dictated to her daddy:

Once there was a girl named Molly and she was four years old. She had a brother named Billy and he always loved to chase her and say, “BOO!” And Molly had a cousin named Sally and she had a brother named Tanner and Tanner was eight. Billy was actually ten. And Sally and Molly had a cousin named Madison and Madison’s big brother was named David. David was twelve years old and Molly had a best friend named Samuel and Samuel’s friend was Abigail. And Billy and Tanner and David and Samuel had another friend and his name was John. And John had a sister named Sarah. Sarah was six. And John was nine. And one day, Molly and Billy and Tanner and Sally went to Molly’s backyard and soon they found a meadow. And then they went to Abigail’s house and they went to the meadow of the backyard of Abigail’s house. And then they went inside Abigail’s house and wanted to dress up in the dress up clothes. And then it started raining. And then they went on a puddle walk. The end.

A couple of funnies

Last night we played outside for a little while before bedtime.  Abigail was begging for someone to chase her, but Daddy said no because he was barefoot.  So naturally she asked me, and I said, “No, Mommy doesn’t chase girls when she’s pregnant.”  (Important here is the fact that I haven’t used that word to explain my condition, I’ve always just said that I had a new baby in my tummy.)  She got a strange look on her face, looked me up and down, and exclaimed, “You’re not pregnant!”  Laughing, I asked what she thought “pregnant” meant.  She repeated, “You’re not pregnant!  You’re not showing anything!”  Really curious now, I asked again what she thought it meant.  She said “It means you’re showing your belly.”  Granted, immodesty, the term she was thinking of, does sometimes lead to pregnancy, and some pregnant people are immodest, but that doesn’t mean the two terms are interchangeable!

Then Catherine, who was all caught up in her game of giants and princesses and castles and such, all the sudden cried in the most dramatic voice a two-year-old could muster, “Oh, I’ve lost my magic brother!!”  Again, laughing, and wanting to make sure Clay had heard her, I said, “Oh, Clay.  Catherine has lost her magic brother!”  She looked at me indignantly and said, “I am not Catherine.  I am Princess Celery and I’ve lost my magic brother!”  If you remember a few weeks back, Abigail was having trouble with the name Enchilada.  And that, friends, is why our children get no input in naming new baby!

A trip to the zoo

Last weekend we took advantage of a day off for Daddy and hit the zoo for one last time before our membership runs out.  It was perfect weather for a zoo day, cloudy and overcast and threatening rain, all of which meant that it wasn’t very crowded and the animals were all active.
