I am…

…Monica, wife of Clay and mommy to Abigail, Catherine, Elisabeth, and Samuel. I spend my days homeschooling Abigail, trying to make sure my kids are decently fed and clothed, and attempting to keep a livable home. I absolutely love being a wife and mother. I’m doing my best to honor Christ each day as I seek to know Him more and love Him with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength.

I love to read, and I try to mix up the fiction that I love with a good, challenging read by authors like Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Martha Peace, John MacArthur, John Piper, and of course, my hero, Elisabeth Elliot. I am homeschooling my oldest in kindergarten this year using the classical Christian method with Veritas Press curriculum.  We both love it, although it can be a challenge homeschooling one with three younger ones dancing around us.

We recently moved to Small Town, Kentucky, where my husband is now Music and Youth Pastor at Salem Baptist Church.  We are extremely excited to put down some roots here, ministering and following Christ among this great family of believers.  My life is very ordinary, but it is very beautiful. Come along with me as I travel the journey God has laid out for me.

  1. Dear Monica,

…Sounds like we have very similar goals in life. It is very nice to meet you–a “Sister-in-Christ!”

Welcome to the wonderful world of homeschooling, and thanks for stopping by site!

    God Bless,
    Janet

  2. Hi Monica,

Yesterday, I talked with your Mom, and she told me about your website. I was so excited to hear about this, and I have been reading a lot of it this morning. I still have more to go, but after I saw the pictures, I just couldn’t wait to send you a note.!! It makes me feel so proud of you, that you are such a wonderful Christian Mother, wife, daughter, and teacher.
I never knew you wanted to write, until Glenda told me yesterday. I will “visit” often.!!
Glenda told me that Zetta and Inman are doing pretty well, except that Inman is having some hip problems. They are such a wonderful couple, and Dean and I always appreciated them SO much. Inman was SO good to Dean after he had his stroke, and he helped him often. I miss living next door to them. I miss a lot of things in Somerset, but I am so glad to be near Beth, and that I can help her in her piano Studio. She opened “Studio 88″ in Sept. 2006, after resigning from her job as Music Director of Crossroads Christian Church after almost 10 yrs. We are having a good time together, with lots of kids.!!!
I won’t throw everything at you at once, but just had to get in touch.!!
It is SO interesting to catch up on your life, and you can also visit Beth’s website, if you like. The address is: http://www.bethstudio88.com
and it tells about what she is doing now. I think there are also a few pictures.
I just can’t believe how fast you kids grew up! Glenda also told me that Stacey adopted a little Asian girl, and she is enjoying her so much.
Please keep in touch now and then. I know you are very busy.

    Love,
Ruth ( your “old” piano teacher.)

  3. Monica,
I love reading your website. It gives me comfort when I go through things with my kids and then read your posts and see that you are going through some of the same things. The way you write your experiences too is very comforting and comical. It is just a “beautiful ordinary” life that we live, even though sometimes it may feel like it is a very big and scarey roller coster.

  4. Jackie B. referred me to one of your blog posts because she said it reminded her of my splendid days with my own children. And she was right! It is so good to know that there are other mothers out there who are blessed with children and blessed to be in the middle of the chaos! ;)

I’m also from this same ‘little’ town you speak of. Interesting place isn’t it?!

    Have a blessed day!
    Amanda
